• Description: Global Financial Data, Statistical Data, Economic History, Economics, Business and Management, Accounting and Finance, The Global Financial Database (GFDatabase) provides comprehensive coverage of financial markets throughout the world. The GFDatabase gives you long-term historical data on all the economic and financial indicators affecting the financial assets . Breaking the GFDatabase down into its four primary components will help you to understand the many data series that are included in the database. The four primary components are :

The Economic Database - The Economic Database includes economic data such as Unemployment, Population, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), inflation data for Consumer Prices and Producer Prices, commodity data with both cash and futures prices as well as commodity indices, and exchange rates including spot rates, forward rates, black market rates and major cross rates. All the important economic variables that influence equity and fixed income assets are included. The Economic Database includes the series with the greatest history. The data for both Gold and UK Consumer Prices goes back to the 1200s. Data for both developed and emerging economies are included.

The Fixed Income Database - Investments in fixed-income assets have exploded over the past two decades. This is why Global Financial Data provides comprehensive data both currently and in the past. GFD provides complete yield curve coverage with data on on short-term interbank rates and treasury bill yields and long-term Government Bond yields and Swap rates. You can follow changes in yield over different maturities going back decades. We provide not only benchmark yields at 3 months and 10 years but at yields in between and beyond.

The Equity Database - Global Financial Data's Equity Database is unmatched in the depth of its data. Today, index companies are more concerned with creating ETF products that with providing a long-term understanding of the behavior of the stock market. This is not true at Global Financial Data. Wherever appropriate, we link up old and new indices to provide decades, not years of historical data. Moreover, GFD allows you to convert any series into another currency to allow direct comparison of returns.

The Total Return Database - The analysis of total returns is essential to any investor or analyst. Because your performance will be measured against the benchmarks for each type of asset class, understanding how returns have changed over time is essential.

All four databases are interlinked and reinforce each other. Economic, financial and fixed income markets all respond to each other, so the data from one is needed to understand the others. Because of our licence agreement GFDatabase is only available to LSE students and staff
